Until Filled The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school district in Somerset County serving 3,400 students Pre-K through grade 12, seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic professional for the position of Registrar and Human Resources Assistant.
JOB GOAL:
Residency:
Work with current and incoming district families to verify student residency in accordance with established policies.
Ensures the efficient operation of the Department of Human Resources and supports the Director in carrying out effective personnel management endeavors.
Qualifications Include:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on education, social work, human resources or a related field, preferred, or comparable work experience.
Demonstrated experience in community service and/or school activities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal capacity; proven ability to interact with parents and community with poise and diplomacy.
Technical aptitude and proficiency working in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, calendar etc.
) Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Highly organized and committed to follow through and task completion.
Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish required.
Must possess a welcoming and warm demeanor as the first point of contact for registering families.
Responsibilities include:
Residency Assist in enforcing the requirement for parents/guardians to document and validate North Plainfield residency consistent with currently established state statutes and district policies.
Maintain the on-going accuracy of residency documentation and the representation of residency-related information in the Genesis database.
Documentation may include, but is not limited to, updated leases residency affirming affidavits, and McKinney-Vento intake and status updates.
Notify Families regarding residency requirements and related consequences for falsifying residency through a variety of means (including letters to parents, policy handbook, etc).
Pursue tips and conduct proactive investigations of students independently and in coordination with District Residency Officer and District Security Personnel.
Promptly and diligently investigate allegations, and keep records of steps taken communicate as needed with the Principal of Special Projects and Student Resources On the instructions of the Superintendent, institute random residency audits of school students.
In addition to targeted efforts for students suspected of non-residency, investigators will conduct a limited number of residency checks of students selected at random.
In accordance with district policy, communicate as needed with families who do not live within the boundaries of school assignment zones of the options, including the necessity to de-enroll and transfer schools.
Maintains a dedicated phone line to receive community tips regarding students and families suspected of being in violation of the residency requirement.
Establish and maintain a solid understanding of district residency-related policies and have the capacity to explain the process and field questions throughout the residency verification process.
Assist with the collection of registration paperwork and all necessary follow up to ensure file completion.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Human Resources Maintain an understanding of policies and contract agreements as related to assigned Human Resource tasks.
Assist via email and phone calls any employees questions or concerns in reference to HR.
Maintain personnel, medical records and staff files with strict confidentiality for active and inactive employees.
Assists with constructing the Personnel section of board meeting agendas.
Assist with personnel manuals.
Monitors completion of employee required annual training (such as GCN, Safe Schools).
Process all leave of absence paperwork.
Calculates leave time frames in accordance with federal and state laws and district policy Provides Family Medical leave Act information to employees and troubleshoots leave requests as they emerge.
Schedule appointments, conferences and interviews as needed for the HR Director and related staff.
Process employment verifications Process purchase orders.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
